What Is Business Insurance?
Business insurance is any form of insurance designed to protect a business in the event of a loss such as being accused of negligence by a client, bodily injury / property damage to a third party, or damage to property owned by the business.
What Types of Business Insurance Coverages Are Available?
There are many types of business insurance available for businesses, of which can vary depending on the type of business that you own or operate. Most types of business insurance can be classified either as Liability Insurance or Property Insurance: Professional Liability, Errors and Omissions (E&O Insurance), Malpractice Insurance, Management Liability, General Liability, Workers Comp, and Commercial Auto Insurance are the most common types of Business Liability Insurance (Commercial Auto often also includes property coverage as part of the same policy). Business contents coverage, commercial building insurance and contractors equipment coverage are all examples of types of Business Property Insurance. We currently offer the following types of business insurance for a wide range of industries:
Why Does My Business Need Business Insurance?
All businesses, from the home-based sole proprietor to large multi-million dollar corporations, have something in common: they all have an inherent risk of loss that comes along with any business operations. For example: Engineers and Architects carry most of their risk on a professional level (the risk of being sued by a client for an error or omission) and therefore most likely need to carry Professional Liability or Errors and Omission (E&O) Insurance over any other type of insurance, whereas a Restaurant or Retail Business may carry most of their risk on a physical level (risk of being sued for a “slip and fall” injury, damage by fire to the property owned by the business, etc) and therefor are more likely to have a need for General Liability Insurance and/or Business Property Insurance. Regardless of the details, as business owners we all have something to lose if we don’t adequately protect ourselves, which is where Business Insurance comes into play.
What Types of Businesses Need Insurance?
While all businesses have at least some risk of loss that can be covered by insurance, some businesses have more of a need for different types of business insurance than others. We recommend that all businesses carry some form of business insurance in order to protect their business from losses, lawsuits, etc. We offer coverages for most any type of business, ranging from architects and engineers to consultants and construction managers.
